On the afternoon of May 19, 2021, Jiangong You, renowned mathematician and professor at the Chern Institute of Mathematics, delivered a Zhide Lecture titled "Several Mathematical Problems in the Context of Quantum Physics" at CIM, which is also one of the important academic events held for the 110th anniversary of the birth of Shiing-Shen Chern.

Briefly but precisely, Prof. You explained some quantum physical phenomena, such as quantum Hall effect and Anderson localization, in a mathematical way by connecting Schrödinger equation, the cornerstone of quantum physics, and dynamical system which is one of the important branches of mathematics. During the lecture, Prof. You introduced some basic problems and important concepts of spectral theory of operators, showing its unique charm to the audience with detailed analysis of examples. He related each mathematical concept he introduced to its underlying physical background with simple but profound words, pointing out that there are still many problems to be solved in this research field which leads to broad prospects, and encouraged all the students to learn from mathematicians who have done great work in this field and to stick to their own passion in mathematics. At the end of the lecture, Prof. You introduced one of his recent important research result jointly achieved with physicists, and answered the audience's questions in detail.

In 2016, Dr. Haibing Zhou and Ms. Ying Hou donated 100 million RMB to their alma mater Nankai University, a part of which was used to establish Zhide Foundation to support the development of several schools and colleges in Nankai University. Lectures delivered by the recipients of the "Zhide Outstanding Contribution Award", "Zhide Outstanding Achievement Award" and "Zhide Excellent Achievement Award", which are all set and supported by Zhide Foundation, are named as Zhide Lecture. Prof. Jiangong You was invited to deliver the lecture as recipient of "Zhide Outstanding Achievement Award".
