On September 15, a special lecture was held at the lecture hall of Shiing-Shen Building. Professor Mo-Lin Ge, a 83-year-old renowned theoretical physicist, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at Chern Institute of Mathematics (CIM), was invited to deliver the lecture titled "Professor Chen Ning Yang's Academic Achievements" to more than 200 teachers and students of Nankai University. He reminisced about the deep friendship between Professor Shiing-Shen Chern and Professor Chen Ning Yang, and told of their remarkable academic achievements.
At the lecture, by showing many precious pictures, Professor Mo-Lin Ge told the audience about the memories of Professor Shiing-Shen Chern and Professor Chen Ning Yang during their stay at Nankai, and introduced the outstanding contributions they have made to the development of Nankai University and the country.
Zixin Hou, former president of Nankai University, Weiping Zhang, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor at Chern Institute of Mathematics, and Professor Jiangong You and Professor Zizhou Tang of CIM were present at the lecture.
"Professor Chern and Professor Yang are both very self-disciplined during their lifelong devotion to academic research." Professor Mo-Lin Ge said to the students, "For more than three decades since the creation of CIM, the guideline proposed by Professor Chern—based at Nankai, serving the country, and embracing the world, has been inherited from one generation to another. I hope you can follow the footsteps of your predecessors as well as the national strategic needs to make your own contributions to the development of our country."
