On October 28, the 2019 Beijing-Tianjin Workshop on Geometry and the memorial conference for the 108th anniversary of Prof. Shiing-Shen Chern's birth was held in Shiing-Shen Building. The organizing committee was composed of Academician Weiping Zhang, Prof. Huitao Feng and Prof. Zizhou Tang from Nankai University, and Prof. Haizhong Li from Tsinghua University. The conference gathered academic representatives from different cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Chongqing and Anhui. Prof. Huijun Fan from Peking University, Prof. Xinyue Cheng from Chongqing Normal University, Prof. Jiayu Li from University of Science and Technology of China and Academician Fuquan Fang from Capital Normal University were invited to give lectures at the conference.

The Beijing-Tianjin Workshop on Geometry was proposed by Prof. Shiing-Shen Chern with the intention of bringing together geometers from Beijing, Tianjin and even all over the country to discuss the hot topics on geometry and the research field's development tendency, which could be conductive to the promotion of academic communication, sharing of the latest international academic trends and cultivation of young talents in geometry.
