At the ceremony, Prof. Long was honoured with the “Wenzhong Outstanding Contribution Award” by Wenzhong Foundation and the “Zhide Outstanding Contribution Award” by Zhide Foundation.

Vice Mayor of Tianjin Municipality Shuqi Li and Chancellor of Nankai University Qingshan Yang attended the ceremony. Members of Chinese Academy of Sciences Gang Tian, William Y.C. Chen, Fuquan Fang and Xiangdong Ye, the former President of Nankai University Zixin Hou, and the Vice President of Shandong University Jianya Liu were present to express their congratulations. The ceremony was hostd by the Director of Chern Institute of Mathematics Chengming Bai, and followed by two lectures delivered by Prof. Fuquan Fang ("Logarithmic GLSM and its applications") and Prof. Yongbin Ruan ("Curvature and Shapes").

Yiming Long was born in Chongqing in 1948. He became a mathematics postgraduate student of Nankai University in 1978 and received his master's degree in 1981. In 1987 he received his Ph.D degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After being a postdoc in Switzerland, he was invited by Prof. Shiing-Shen Chern and Prof. Guoding Hu to join the Nankai Institute of Mathematics and has been working there since then.

Prof. Long is mainly engaged in research on pure mathematics, especially Hamiltonian dynamical systems and symplectic geometry. He has published two books and more than 110 papers in authoritative journals such as Annals of Mathematics. Among the awards and honors he has received, there are the Shiing-Shen Chern Mathematics Award, the Loo-Keng Hua Mathematics Award of Chinese Mathematical Society, the 2nd Prize of National Award for Natural Sciences, the 2019 TWAS Prize in Mathematics, and the Scientific and Technological Progress Award by Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation. He was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007 and a member of The World Academy of Sciences for the advancement of science in developing countries (TWAS) in 2008.
