On the morning of May 11, the kick-off meeting to initiate the compilation of the textbook Algebra, which is part of the Math "101 Project" of China's Ministry of Education, was held at Chern Institute of Mathematics. The meeting was hosted by the Director of CIM Prof. Chengming Bai. Members of the Panel of Experts including Prof. Nanqing Ding from Nanjing University, Prof. Rongquan Feng from Peking University, Prof. Shaoqiang Deng from Nankai University and representatives from Peking University Press were invited to attend the meeting. Prof. Yuelin Li, Director of NKU's Department of Educational Administration, and Prof. Jing Li, Associate Dean of NKU's School of Mathematical Sciences, attended and addressed the meeting.
Prof. Yuelin Li and Prof. Jing Li expressed their welcome and appreciation to members of the Panel of Experts and representatives from Peking University Press, and said that the Department of Educational Administration and the School of Mathematical Sciences will strongly support the compilation of the textbook.
Prof. Chengming Bai introduced the implementation background, main content and strategic objectives of the "101 Project" of China's Ministry of Education. Then attendees of the meeting had in-depth discussions on the preparation and planning of the textbook compilation, and on some details including what knowledge should be put in the textbook, how many teaching hours it would take and what features it should have. The meeting specified the tasks of each phase and developed a framework for the compilation.
Some young teachers of NKU's mathematics discipline also attended this meeting and gave advice on the textbook compilation.
