The International Congress of Mathematical Physics (ICMP 2024) recently announced its plenary speakers. Prof. Jiangong You from Chern Institute of Mathematics, Nankai University was invited to deliver a one-hour lecture at the ICMP 2024 for his outstanding work in dynamical systems and the spectral theory of Schrodinger operators. Prof. Jian Ding from Peking University was also invited as one of the plenary speakers. This is the first time that Chinese scholars were invited to deliver plenary lectures at ICMP since it's been held for more than fifty years.
The ICMP 2024 will take place in Strasbourg, France. Sixteen speakers were invited to deliver one-hour lectures at this year's congress for their significant international influence in mathematical physics. Plenary speakers of previous congresses included Fields Medal winners, Nobel Prize winners and many other renowned mathematicians and physicists.
Jiangong You, currently Chair Professor of Chern Institute of Mathematics, Nankai University, has long been engaged in research on dynamical systems, especially the interactions between dynamical systems and the spectral theory of Schrodinger operators and quantum physics. He received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Jiangsu Normal University in 1983, master's degree in mathematics from Nanjing University in 1986, and Ph.D. in mathematics from Peking University in 1989. Since 1991 he had been a faculty at Nanjing University and served successively as lecturer, associate professor, professor, doctoral supervisor and the director of mathematics department. Since 2017 he worked as professor and doctoral supervisor at Chern Institute of Mathematics, Nankai University. He has received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the Outstanding Young Scholar Award of Hong Kong Qiu Shi Science and Technologies Foundation, the First Prize of the National Award for Natural Sciences (1st rank), the First Prize of the National Science and Technology Award of Universities and Colleges (2nd rank), the Second Prize of the National Award for Natural Sciences (3rd rank), and the TWAS Award in Mathematics. He was also invited to deliver a 45-minute lecture at the 28th International Congress of Mathematicians in 2018.
The International Congress of Mathematical Physics (ICMP) was firstly held in 1972 in Moscow and, on its three year cycle since 1988, is the most important conference of the International Association of Mathematical Physics (IAMP).
