On March 31, hosted by Prof. Jiangong You, a special activity named "Dialogue with Fields Medal Winner Artur Avila" was successfully held at Chern Institute of Mathematics. Artur Avila, professor of University of Zurich and winner of the 2014 Fields Medal, was invited to talk with teachers and students of NKU and discuss about mathematics.

Prof. Avila shared with students his own experience in mathematical research and how to study mathematics through communication and cooperation. He also gave his opinions on topics such as how to choose one's research direction, how to take part in research practice as a undergraduate student, and the differences between mathematical competition and mathematical research. During the following free talks, he answered all the questions and took photos with the students.

Prof. Avila has been making systematic and profound research on branches of dynamical systems. His work was published in Ann. of Math., J. Amer. Math. Soc., Acta Math., Invent. Math., Publ. Math. Inst. Hautes Études Sci. and many other famous journals. He was also a plenary speaker at the 26th International Congress of Mathematicians.
